NCLeatherstocking "Just cause it's legal doesn't make it right." Huh? Care to clarify that for us?

I know I'm not NCLeatherstocking, so I can't really speak for him, but I think that there are some religious/Scriptural reasons to avoid hunting on the Sabbath (which, historically is actually from sunset on Friday to sunset on Saturday). Later revisions have taken "Sabbath" to mean any particular day of the week one sets aside for corporate (a body of people) worship of God, and the principle is that this day is to be set aside as "different" and be taken as "a day of rest."

There are many interpretations of these Scriptures that allow for recreation on "the Sabbath", some simple and some complex, as well as many (usually quite simple, because it's how the text reads at first glance) that show disdain for activities other than attending church, study, and napping on "the Sabbath." My guess is that the gentleman falls into the category of people who see a Scriptural mandate not to do ________ on "the Sabbath" out of respect for God and His Word.

Well in my opinion the "scriptures" have no place in State hunting regulations or in any other laws governing what one can and can't do on Sunday.

It's legal in NY. Traditionally, Sunday has been my most productive day for hunting and I still get to Sunday School on time to teach.

Oh boy now you've gone and did it. One of my pet peeves.
You say the Sabbath is the day of rest, ok I will go for that but answer me this.
Those who use this seem just to stop there, but doesnt it go on to say that you are not to even cook, go anywhere, do anything but worship, even not to cause anyone to do work? If so then why is all these churches across the U.S sinning? The person the church hires to be its leader is working on Sunday becouse thats his job. What about me, I work in surgery and lots of time I get called out on Sunday to help work on someone that gets hurt. With this Blue law do I then have the right to say "Sorry just hold on till Monday and we will work on you then!"
Im sorry but it has to be one of the great dumb laws of all times.
Im not even going into the issue of forcing someones religion on those who may have other thoughts and ideas on the subject.
Oh and that means no football or basketball or anything else,Right? Anyone want to bet those who come up with this thing follow the rules and actually keep all these things out of their lives on Sunday?
I am going to really get in trouble if I dont stop so
Take care,
Rick

all I will say is this....if YOU choose to not hunt on sunday for religious reasons thats fine and dandy and its your choice to make. I wont say a word to you about it.

if *I* choose to hunt sunday thats my choice to make and its NOBODYS place to tell me I cant or shouldnt go hunting on my only day off from work. Show me the same respect and dont say a word to me about it if you dont believe in it. I am not harming you in anyway
