By the time I was 10 I had already shot at thousands of clays with a shotgun and a .22! He prepaired me well and I thank him for it to this day!

You shot clays with a .22? That would require some skill. But it's definately possible.

We used to throw walnuts for each other too.
It used to be common for folks to use rimfire for rabbits and such.
I remember an old gentleman from my childhood that used a Remington autoloader .22 for quail...he shot them when they leveled out after coming off ground. I personaly seen him kill 3 with 3 shots.

I would have to say my father and uncle. They both got me involved in hunting, squirels, rabbits, quail and pheasants. I myself learned to deer and turkey hunt on my own. One that I considera ledgend is Ben Lee. I watched many hours of him deer and turkey hunting. I just loved watching him hunt...

My Father and Grandfather.
My dad because he took me even before I could carry a firearm or bow. And he fostered in me the love of the outdoors. My grandfather b/c he was a died-in-the-wool (literally in 2 ways) woodsman who over his lifetime forgot more than I'll ever know about the woods and the animals I love to hunt and observe. Without the combination of the 2 of them I would have never developed my rich and deep respect for nature and hunting that I enjoy today.
