Or as my dad would say, "That's why I 'had' you boys!"

My dad used to help me drag mine out and would say "good thing the rest of you boys didn't hunt"
it wore him out a few times

I say go with the cart thing from Cabela's
the plastic one wont really help if you have to go up hill.
Or you can do what I do and use a two wheel hand cart.

First i try to get my old Toyota 4X4 pickup closeto it so it can be winched out. If i cannot get my truck close to it, i just go out to the closest road and look old and pitiful.A couple of young, stronghunters will stop and help me get it out. I did that for old folks when i was young. Time for payback.

If legal...Pack him out...You can get a rachet pulley from Lowes hardward and winch him up a tree limb...Bone out the meat and put in plastic bags and strap these to your treestand or a back pack and come out with the meat...I have even tagged deer on public land, called them in with my cell phone, written down the verification number of the kill and just came out with the meat....A deer can even be skinned on the ground, seperate the hams from the pelvic with a knife and bone out the rest...

I don't hunt much public land anymore, so I just use the Rancher...

hello folks, need advice.. i am getting older now and dragging deer out of the woods is getting to much..

i shot 8 point buck first day..i had to drag it about 1/2 mile ..i was all in and now have cold over it..

my question is,what is good way to get deer out other than dragging it..some said those carts are good..i also have ladder stand that i need something to haul that into woods also,so, whatever could be used for both the stand in and deer out..

any tips would be appreciated..

If you could somehow make a set of wheels to attach to one of the ladder sections, you could make a cart out of the actual ladder stand. You have all next summer to divise something.

How about hiring someone else to drag it out of the woods for you? Offer a couple of young dudes $20 each to get it out to your truck for you and you are home free. You might even finesse things a bit and instead offer them a case of beer, provided they are of age, to drag the deer out. Funny how a case of beer seems to be more highly valued by some than the equivalent $$$ needed to buy the case of beer.

i went to a tent sales where they have tools..i got a dolly that was 19 dollars, kind you use to move frigerator etc..

they have those inflated rubber tires..i took them off and neighbor had old kids bike with 18 inch tires..he gave them to me..

i pulled the dolly wheels off and fitted the bike wheels on..

i sweat mother for only 19 dollars..i am figuring to use 3 rachet straps to haul my ladder stand in and then haul buck out with dolly with 3 rachet straps to hold buck on..

only problems i see is, will deer lay on dolly ok, i think so.. wheels are spoked and i am concerned about laural getting caught in the spokes..

anyone have idea how to make spoke wheels so limbs do not get in them?

take a piece of cardboard and cut it into a circle the size of the inner rim with a hole in the middle the size of the middle. then cut a straight line to the middle from the outside.
somewhat like this

(made that on paint really fast and sloppy)
then just slide it into the middle of the spokes.
it is found almost always on bikes at walmart.
and we used to do this for mountain bikes and it worked great.

try quartering it and putting the meat in a garbage bag. i mean who really eats the ribs, spine, head, lower legs with hooves. i really don't even see the point in eating the flanks to be honest. by the time i'm done they are like paper thin and not even worth grinding due to all the facia and fat around it. but thats just my opinion.
