I think the 1st post is being read 2 different ways. Some guys are reading it as party hunting which is legal in some places(not here in PA). The way I read it is buying tags for your wife, mom, aunt, friend etc who've never hunted a day in thier lives and using that to tag a deer. I can't see how any state would let that be legal.
I agree.
What is it with you guys! That law has been in effect here for several years now. Your wife, aunt, friend orwhoever only needs a valid license. They don't have to have actually hunted a day in their lives yet then can legally give you up to 2 tags which you can carry in your pocket and put it on a deer you take while they're shopping at the mall. Perfectly legal.

Wow, that would be rather illegal here in PA, although it unfortunately happens.

How are we poachers! We use the meat and usually it's taking extra does! Nothing wrong with it at all!

I know some people that they find a family member that doesnt hunt they give them the deer and they say they shot it. So that gives the hunter other tag to kill a deer. Why do people do this it doesnt seem very fair.
Because they are POACHERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SRBowman, you have to understand that many here incorrectly use the term "poacher" to simply mean somebody guilty of any game violation at all. Don't ask me howthe meaninggot twisted in to that definition but for many here it has. So in these guys minds, you are a poacher for the most trivial of offenses. Like I said before though, imo those that get all puffed up and upset, pointing their finger like a school child at somebody who put's a family members tag on a deer has more problems than a poor understanding of words. I think it goes back to poor potty training but who knows?
Actually I was answering in regards to my state where party hunting, using another's tags, etc is illegal. If it's legal in your state, then go for it. It isn't legal here and therefore such acts would be poaching.

But I see that you (Sylvan) automatically revert to "poor potty training" to explain my answer. Thanks for your maturity in this matter.

The only thing I see "unfortunate" about it happening is that the law doesn't allow you guys to do it legally. The solution imo is to change the law. Imo, everybody wins!

You're welcome! Glad I could help.

Actually frmcntry, I explained your answer to be a result of having a different understanding of the meaning of the word "poaching" than SRBowman. I suggested that "those that get all puffed up and upset, pointing their finger like a school child at somebody who put's a family members tag on a deer" to be the result of poor potty training. If you identify yourself as one of "those" then that's up to you.

While Party hunting is legal in Ontario to get that tag for your family member:

1. Hunter Education course 12 1/2 hours and $$
2. Firarms licence- full day course and more $$
3. Outdoor card -more $$
4. Deer tag- more $$ (I guess you were planning on buying that anyway )

All this takes a few months to accomplish as well. And at the end of it all they still need to be in the feild. Sooooo if someone was going to break the party hunting law and just take the tag and put it on the deer themselves the family member hasa lot of BS to go thorugh to get them this tag. If they want to go through all that for a non-hunting family member then they must really, really want another deer.
