How do I have my foot in my mouth? And what is your reasoning for implying I am "uninformed"?
Sorry if I struck a nerve, but the woods are full of guys lugging around way more rifle than they can handle. If a .416 Rigby is your gun of choice for whitetail, great. If you're one of the crowd that thinks .300 minmag is the minimum cartridge for whitetail, then you are uninformed. If not, then I wasn't referring to you. P.S. Besides 25 yrs of whitetail hunting, 11 yrs of handloading cartridges ranging from .204 Ruger up through .300 wby, and shooting somewhere in the neighborhood of 1500 rounds/year, how much more experience do I need to become one of the elite "informed"? ORIGINAL: Chantecler111 ORIGINAL: kingofspring Who knocks the 25-06? Well, besides the magnum manly crowd who think a whitetail should be missing most of its shoulders to be truly dead? |

I would think with that much "experience" you wouldn't make such a rash and condemning statement, you even say you reloaded for the .300 WBY, so you can't really say to much about people that prefer to hunt with a .300 Magnum. I think a guy can take whatever cartridge he wants into the deer field, as long as he can shoot it, and I also see that you have to put up how many rounds you shoot a year, 1500 isn't all that great, considering I shoot upwards of 10,000. But, it was just a statement that you made to sound like you know what you are doing. We all make them when backed into a corner.:D |
RE: .25-06 under rated?
If the question is who shoots more, you win, hands down. You obviously shoot enough to know your weapon, and shoot it well. I'll write this slowly, since you didn't catch it the first time... I... wasn't... referring... to... you. There are plenty of good reasons one might choose a magnum rifle to hunt with, but there are plenty of people who can't handle one but use one anyway. I love to hear some dude tell me all about how flat his ultra mag shoots out to 500 yds, and in the same breath tell me he's still shootingout of the original box of ammo he bought for it.Does a guy like that have any business shooting 500 yds, or 300 for that matter? You know as well as I do the woods are full of these yuckos, and they give a fellow like yourself that puts inyour time at the range a bad name. I didn't throw up the number 1500 to impress you, just to give you anidea of my experience level so you don't confuse me with the "two shots the week before season, to make sure she's still on" guys.[quote]ORIGINAL: Chantecler111
