I use 150 boat tail and i find they work just fine. Anything more i find destroys too much meat.

165 is one of the best grains on the market. thats all we have been using for many many many many many many years in my family.

If I'm using my 06, rather than my .243, I shoot 150 gr. Winchester Super-X Power Points. They are quite accurate in my rifle. As someone did above, find what your rifle likes, and use those. Whitetails aren't hard to kill, especially with a .30 caliber round, IF you hit them in the rights spot. So, accuracy is far more important than bullet weight.
