Scoring...is it a good thing or bad?

RE: Scoring...is it a good thing or bad?
For me scoring is just a decent way of getting an image in my head of how big the deer was. You can have an 8 pt with pts 2-3" and a 7" spread, and one with tines 10" and a 18 spread. Telling the score of the buck is an easier way of describing its size.
If someone gets thier happiness taken away when they hear what thier deer scored, its thier own fault, not the hunting community's fault.

Antler mass does not mean how big the deer was. Back in the early
seventies before the coyotes were thick here a friend of mine shot a buck carring a rack with around thirty-two points. The deer was old and never had any teeth left, It was guessed to not have been able to survive another winter. And the body size was small for a buck up here. I have also tagged and weighed in an eight pointer with a friend who tag and weighed in an eleven pointer. Both deer had big racks but the eight pointer was about twenty pounds heavier.
