What in the heck happened to my deer target?
Well, I looked at my 3-D deer archery target today and I couldn't help but notice that the head was knocked to the rear end of the thing and on the ground. And that it was pretty much...messed up.
Under further investigation...I discovered gouge holes all over the head of my target, and some scratches. Come to find out...a stupid buck from around the house killed my target. He's probably prancing around thinking he's all big and bad now. I wish I coulda seen it happen...I guess the rut is in full swing.

Froman that is too funny because I am sure that is exactly what happened. I also have a huge 3D Mckensie target and two weeks ago I went 6 miles out back hunting and came back home for lunch and I looked up out my kitchen window and two deer were comeing in towards my target. The one doe looked at the target and started walking toward it and was looking at it noise to noise at 10 ft away. I got this on vidieo as it was happening and then my dogs started barking and then they took off.

Haha, Same thing happened to my 3-D target last year. Some buck had knocked it in half, ripping the foam dovetail clean off the front section. Deep telltale gouges in the foam told the whole story. I tried to glue and pin it back together with construction adhesive and wooden dowels, but it didn't hold very well. I've since turned the remaining halves into broadhead targets and bought a new foam deer.

froman, the same thing hapopened to my husbands brand new deer target, its head was tore off and it was actually shredded, something tore off big peices of the foam and dropped them all over the ground. we cant figure out what did it, as there were no tracks on the ground we could see and no distinguished bite marks other than one partial bite mark that may or not have been a deer. i made a pot earlier about this--cant find the date now but had quite a few replys i think and several people said they had filmed or caught deer on deer cams doing it.
my husband and his friends had set them selves up a 3-d range around our home but as several other targets started getting attacked to they eventually took them down, my husband was very upset over this as it was an anniversary present to him from me and was still barely out of the box.
ive heard that if a bear does the damage that the dnr. may replace the targets-or property destroyed.

Very funny!
I have heard about this from other hunters and just last night while watching a hunting video by, Realtree outdoors, this very same thing happened, on film.
Man! it was the funniest thing I have seen, this deer freaked out on this decoy, It came in from the rear never lifting it's head and had his eyes locked and before you knew it, BAM.... the deer just went crazy on this decoy. You have to see it to understnad<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

I don't have horns on my 3d and last year a spike buck mounted mine 3 times trying to make some doe babies. He finally knocked it over on the 3rd go around and he stood there looking at it like he had really done her good. My wife and I were watching out the window during this whole episode and would have given anything for a video camera.

I had them knock mine over twice. Seperated the 3 sections and broke off the ear. I even had an 8pt try and "service" my target..One morning I noticed a nice 8pt working his way to my foam doe. He eased up slowly and mounted..Funniest thing I ever saw!

I wonder if the bucks get pissed off when the the target just stands there adn doesn't fight back? Not THAT would be a deer -cam picture I'd love to see.
