in my opinion, scout the transition lines. where swamp meets pasture, palmetto flats meet a thicket, oak hammock meets food source, etc. when find these transition lines start looking for buck sign...rubs, scrapes, etc. if you find a transition line with buck sign, try to position yourself where you have a good line of sight on/near the transition line and between the food source and bedding area's. after this, keep the sun to your back if possible and/or face the direction where the wind/breeze hits your face. big bucks can come to you from down wind, but from my experience it's rare...especially if your going to be in a ground blind. treestand in my opinion is better not only for visual purposes but also keeps some of your scent away from the ground floor.

if you can find all this in one area and set up like i described, it'll be a good hunt.

or you can borrow DD's horseshoe and sit in your truck and shoot one...lol

jim, I'm not sure of the type of landscape features you are dealing with and the location of and types of food sources but I have highlighted a few areas that look promising. You would need to scout on the ground to see if they would work for you. The area is extremely large but I can see a few funnels that possibly would work for stand locations. The funnels are created by the streams or fingers highlighted in red. The stand location would be in the area highlighted in yellow. Give them a try and see what they look like. Of course, paying attention to the wind will make all the difference in the world!
