I might try that sled idea or some plastic underneath in a few years when i get older but for now i think i owe it to deer hunting and hunters to drag it out like the ol'days.

the deer where i hunt in ky are too big for just me to drag out. i'm young 16 but the deer i killed last year i couldn't even move. i had to wait on my uncle and he and i still had trouble moving it. then we put in in a trailer hooked up to a tractor. we're in farm country so the deer grow big but there's no lack of tractors.

lol....not just at you, at all of the ones that replied that the drag is part of the hunt, that it should be done like the ol timers did it...i am a firm believer that the drag out is just as important to the hunt as the walk in, the shot, any of it....the sled doesn't drag it out for you, you still have to do the work...with a doe, you have no antlers to help you drag,i believe you'd be showing more respect to you game and the ol timers byusing a sled, you don't mess up the hide, legs aren't getting wrapped around branches, etc....i agree with MDManiac.....dont you think that they would of done it if they had em back then....

Starting at age 13, I dragged all of my dads deer out of the woods and had much satisfaction doing so. At age 15, I dragged out a 210 pound 8 pointer by myself. Took a while and I ached afterwards but I just get a real satsifaction out of it. This year, at 16, I hope to drag my own 200 pounder out.

The first 20 years, we draged a few, but carried most of them out of the 'swamp' on POLES. Polling is better than dragging, [in the swamp] then for the next 15 years, we used my homemade cart........It goes thru mud, snow, sand, and will fit down a corn row!

No plans, but I do have several close up pictures of the drive. 49 to 1 gear reduction is the key!
