I picked up a while ago, one of those orange straps that goes around your waste, and I attached a rope to it, plus added a few knots. I have been using this setup for sometime, but, if I go deep into the woods. Shoot a monster buck or doe. How do I get it out without an ATV, or a deer cart? Without giving me a heart attack?

I used to use an old line I spliced for my boat and would wrap that around a buck/doe and drag back to the truck. That worked for a few years and has many memorable blood stains on it now. But, as I grew into my 30s and my thighs burn after only 20 minutes of dragging, I got smart. I now use a good handtruck with those neumatic wheels. I swear I can hitch a deer onto that thing and wheel it out using a pinky. One you get to the main trail or a decent clearing, it's a piece of cake! Even in a few inches of snow it's worthwhile.

if u have two people, you can tie the deer to a long branch and each of you carry a end...........like the old day when hawaiins when carry a pig to a lou owl with an apple in its mouth..........does this give u a visual?
If your by yourself, i would reccomend getting help, lol

Antlers make good handles.
Yeah, I agree, dragging is something you need to pace yourself at.
In rugged terrain, I found it was helpful to have a small pulley. I tied it off to a tree upslope of the deer, ran a rope from the deer, though the pulley, and then tied it to my waist. A good sized guy can pull a deer up a hill by running down the hill. Helps a lot to have a buddy steer it a bit to keep it clear of snags.
