bringing out this buck?
Hey guys me and a friend of mine have been hunting this one spot and just cant seem to just this buck to show us himself for more than a second! A friend of mine who has been hunting for 20 years says he's either a veryterritorial buck or there's a bigger buck in the area who has him scared to show himself. We have tried just about everything we can think of to get this thing. He has put us thuru two weeks or torment lol. I mean we've called rattled but were afraid of over calling him so if anybody has any ideas i would really appreciate any ideas you just can give me......at this point he's made it personal lol. He's gotta die now. Anyways good luck and good hunting

Where in SC are you located?
I am in your shoes right now. I have been hunting a certian deer that I have pics of, all year. He is coming into my stand and freshening up scrapes and making new rubs almost daily, but I can't seem to get him to come in during shooting hours.
I have seen around 20-25 does on it this year (some I am sure have been repeats). Maybe I need to shoot some of them to make the buck move around more to find a receptive doe. I don't know. Its wearing me thin though.
I have had good luck with making mock scrapes in the past. Maybe you should try this. Just buy you a good quality buck scent and make a mock scrape a couple feet or yards from one that he is using on a regular basis. I would also try throwing a little bit of doe urine in it too. If you can, shoota smaller buck and a doe and get their bladders. Its the best and you don't have to pay $10+ and oz for it.
Hope I helped.

Are you tracking him and see where he is crossing the dirt roads? Seems like you have to find him and not wait till he finds you. When you find his crossings, back off 50yds and wait on him. If there is'nt any hunting pressure where he is crossing, he'll cross there again.

RE: bringing out this buck?
That is also true.
In my case, I am pretty sure I know where he is bedding. Or at least I know where all of the does are bedding. I am hunting b/t his bedding area and the white oaks he feeds in pretty much everyday. I think this is whereI am messing up. Maybe I need to start hunting where the does are since they are rutting now. He is probably coming in to feed after chasing does all night. What ya think?
Like I said above, he is coming to where I have my stand (in the oaks) and making scrape after scrape and rubbing on a lot of trees. Some are cedars that are 7in round. Just about every two days there is a new rub and scrape.
The only thing about where the does are, is that its thick, (which isn't a problem). The problem is trees. Its an old grown up farm, so theres not many trees where the does are that are tall enough to me to get over 10-12ft high. And as thick as it is, the deer are right on top of you before you can see them. Hunting this low, with the deer that close is just waiting for trouble.

Rebel,
I live up in Bennettsville, SC. Its on the NC/SC line. Not many deer in this area when compared to other places.
The place I am describing is in Chesterfield County. Our porperty line is the NC/SC line. It borders Anson Co. NC, which is known for very nice deer in this area.

Thats cool. Never heard of it though. I should have specified, I live on the Eastern side of SC. About an hour and 45mins from Myrtle Beach. About the same distance from Charlotte NC.
As for this buck. I am about to leave. I am going to see if I can ponder up some thoughts and maybe move my climber. Maybe I will get him or another buck this evening.
