Default Question about acorns.

Would acorns collected from my neighbors oak tree have the same affect as acorns found in the woods? There are oak trees in area that I hunt, but other people have beaten me to the punch and put up their stands/blinds around them.

Anyway, should it matter if I get the acorns from my neighbors tree or a tree from the area?

Thanks,
Mike

No it wont matter, I use acorn's myself but try this gather the acorn's into a pail put enough water to just cover them add a container of morton's salt and let them soak a day or two deer go crazy even after the acorn's are gone they will tear the ground up I even pour it on a stump close to my stand and they have chewed on the stump.....good luck

Acorns are acorns, although I'm not sure how careful you may want to be about getting your scent on them while gathering and carrying them. I'm sure the deer will eat them if they find them, but I think the main draw for hunting near oak trees is that the deer ALREADY frequent the area because they know the acorns are there. With imported ones, the deer will have to stumble across them on a trail or sniff them out for themselves.
If I were using them, I would place some upwind of your shooting lanes so that a deer following the scent will pass by you at a distance.
Good luck!

Keep 'em all in the Bull.
