In deep south Texas and Mexico that type of rig is very common. And you cant chase them down and corner them into a fence. Mostly because you cant drive one of those very fast. Also because the ranches are 20,000 + acres and that's a small one. In mexico they'd look at you and ask "whats a fence?" I've hunted out of a rig like that on a ranch that is54,000acres and low fenced. We shot hogs and coyotes of it. We saw a lot of deer but for the life of me I can't remember a single time that we ran one down and shot it with a spot light. The primary reason for the rig is so you can see over the extremely thick brush. Let not your ignorance cause judgement on a topic when you know not of which you speak.

Iunder stand that different locations call for different methods of hunting, but those are alittle out there.I dont think it is anything like a climbing stand, not even close. I have never seen a climber with a V8 hemmi in it.

No I would never hunt from one, my feet will do just fine.

Also comparing it to a rock bluff is rediculus.

Different regions, different styles and methods of hunting. It's perfectly legal so whysay anythingabout it?? IF you don't like it.... DON'T hunt from one.

Please check my original post again, I didn't post a copyrighted picture, just a link to a page on the site, no different than what you did.

I just don't see how its any different than hunting from a vehicle. In Kansas I'm pretty sure that's illegal, if not it is certainly frowned upon by the majority of hunters. I know its legal in some states/countries, and used often there. I just think it takes a lot out of the challenge of hunting deer.

I simply posted this for discussion- wondering what others would think - knowing that there would be opinions on both sides. I'm not trying to cause judgement, just seeing how everyone else feels about it.

Many, many hunters hunt from these, wht not make it portable?
When it starts to rain hard, just get in the truck or sleep in the
truck, plus you have all your hunting gear with you. Here in Fl
you park in the palmettos and you can't see the truck.
Can always change locations quick. I have a similar set up on
a 88 Blazer Tahoe.

RE: Would you hunt from this?

Animals and game birds not classified as migratory may be hunted from a motor vehicle, powerboat, sailboat, or from any other floating device within the boundaries of private property or upon private water. Migratory game birds under certain circumstances may be hunted from a boat on public water. See the migratory game bird section for the exceptions
Bottom line: It's their property, they can hunt it however they want, except for using artificial light.

RE: Would you hunt from this?

Tex, in the FL reg's it states that no hunting from a
vehicle whilein motion or swiming deer enen if the boat
is standing still.
In over 50yrs of hunting, I have never hunted in a private
enclosed area and never shined for deer.
Yes I hunt from one of these, I have a 88 Blazer Tahoe
with a shooting stand on it. With the palmetto's we have
here hogs and deer can't see the Blazer, but I can see them.
The states up north and out west are different than the Southern
states when it comes to theterrain in which we hunt.
Different strokes for different folks!

Nice set-up..... I cant afford a 60,000.00 deer stand...
As for purpose they work great, the scrub and brush in South Texas heck even the trees you are hard pressed to find anything big enought to put a stand in...the high rack set-ups work great for seeing over the brush would be really hard to bowhunt from...
