SHoNff makes a good point.
I addmittaty am one of the lucky ones living where I live.
Interior Of British Columbia.. Where the chances of finding good quality
deer elk moose sheep and goat are right in my backyard.
A place where hunting pressure is low considering the numbers of hunters
per area and long long seasons.. Lots of public land available and private land is permission only no land tresspassing fees required.
The chances of finding a quality trophy animal by yourself is as good as finding them with a guide..
Over the years with the help of freinds and family members I've been able to harvest numerous animals listed above without the assisstance of a professional guide..
Do I appreciate this you bet..Because I know if I lived elsewhere I probably would have put forth 100,000 in expenses for the memories I've got so far..
I do agree with guided hunts to a point..I believe that DD did put in his dues and deserves the trophy..He put in 4 long hard years to get a buck he considers a worthy trophy..
Compare that to me who only hunted 4.5 Hrs and shot my bull moose
and later 5hrs and shot a 180clss buck this past season..
That was luck not skill on my side..
I don't agree with the way some hunter pays tens of thousands of dollars
for a guide to keep track of a trophy deer until he gets a chance to shoot it..
But thankfully for me I'm not in an area where that happens..

moose. I also would like to know where and under what name you guide. I am a Maine Guide and I enjoy it very much. My SPORTS are very nice people and I have made some very good friends from celebrities to the working class. People hire guides for several different reasons. Some get very little time to enjoy the sport and have to make the best of the time and money they do have so they hire a guide who, yes, does the scouting, putting up the stands ect., but when it comes down to the hunt they participate evry bit as much. I have had celebrities that wanted to participate in the day to day work around the camps and he chose latrine duty. You are why some people look down at guides and the sports who hire them. With an attitude like yours you are in the wrong business. I do not talk behind my sports backs and my sole purpose is to see to it that evry sport who hires me gets the best, safest, most enjoyable hunt possible. I truely attemt to keep my prices down so that the working class can afford them as well. I am not in it soley for the money I truely enjoy helping others fullfill their hunting experiences. I think you should find a job where you work by yourself because you sure aren't a people person.

No, the people you are describing in my opinion are called "children".
Let me spell it out a little better with some functional definitions...

child=a young person that learns about life stuff from parents
father=a man with a child, who nurchers and teaches, and looks after said child
sport=a slob that pays others to do his work and basks in anothers accomplishments
guide=a hunter that takes money from sports for doing what comes naturaly for him

Hope that clears it up for ya a bit there Wes

With each new post you prove again what a hypocrite that you are!
If you dislike and dispise what you are doing and the people that you are doing it for so much, why do it? Isn't that what prostitutes do?
There are good hunters and good guides in this world! And there are good hunters who use guides too! Not only do you seem to be a poor guide, you don't seem to be much of a "people" person at all! Do you even like yourself? I know I wouldn't like myself if I lied, and shafted clients behind their backs for a living!
I'll be sure to do all my guided hunts somewhere out west, as to be sure that I never get you for a guide! However, I am sure that you are in the minority in Maine!

DD.....lb stands for pounds where I come from, and yes, I do in fact have several walls full of large racked bucks. However, I have no need or desire for that matter to post them up.
