So since i cant hunt this year i put an ad on craigslist looking for game me. Even said i would pay for it. I had forgot bout it as i did it a month ago. A woman messaged me the other day said she had 35 pounds elk buger 10 pounds deer steaks and 14 pounds deer buger. I asked what she wanted for it. She said her and her husband both got rlk and deer this season and could use the freezer space so she would give it all to me. She said they loved game meat and hunting and could not see going with out.
Im from indiana ifk anyone there who would give a stranger 60 pounds of elk or deer meat more so when they offered to buy it
It was from last nov but it was done by a butcher packed good and i ate some deer steaks and my first time eatting elk today no freezer burn and best meat iv ate
It met alot to me infact im givin some to a friend of mine cause he lost his job and their hurting for food

Do not, I repeat DO NOT ever offer to pay anyone for wild game meat in CO!!!! Selling wild game meat in CO is illegal and has been for as long as I can remember. I'm 50 years old, was born there and it has never been legal in my lifetime. Any meat legally sold as "game" in CO is from farms that raise it for commercial purposes and is USDA inspected. Any hunter caught selling game will not be a happy camper if the DOW catches wind of it.
You can donate all the meat you want but you cannot sell it. The hunting regulations even spell out the proper steps to take. Basically, if it is processed you can donate any amount. If it is a whole carcass then there is some documentation and procedures that need to be adhered to.

It is not just Colorado. It is a federal law. The Lacey Act was signed into law in 1900. It basically makes it illegal to sell any wild game meat anywhere in the US.
All game meat that you can buy in stores was raised on game farms, and has been federally inspected by USDA.

Ill edit the ad but no money changed hands she gave it to me guessing thats why. I thought it was illegal but a few years ago a butcher told me if u filled out paper work ie recipet snd such u could person to person.
Glad ik now i get why though u would have people taking advantage of people selling what might be tanted meat
