Can anyone give me some information on hunting area 22. We have been drawn for the first elk hunt. We have the option of hunting areas 30,31,32,21 and 22. From looking at stats and areas on maps that area 22 is probably our best direction???? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

We have a choice of hunting the following areas 21,22,30,31 and 32. We have been studying ALOT of maps. I realize that WMU 22 is a CWD unit, but from the maps it looks the most promising. Need info regarding Piceance Creek Area ( Little Hills Expirement area) type of terrain, altitude etc. We are planning on camping and hunting on public land. 4 Wheelers or horses? THANKS!

I hunted in Unit 21 Last year(Archery), seen lots of good bulls I got the most info from the department of wildlife. I also orderd a CD from Biggamecd.com all the info on this cd is very good from herd pop. to cow to bull ratio also deer antelope over 2500 maps from blm to land use ,topo and 3d topo its a great tool and a good buy @ $49.00. For unit 21 i would hunt around the douglas Pass area lots of BLM land but also some Private land as well.
Good luck
