Hello everybody. I've been busy building my prototype and making an elk decoy. I'm down to putting a few more rivets in the webbing on my prototype and stitching up the sides, and I'll be done with the first one. I hope the next few I make go MUCH faster, or Wayne you may not get yours until next year. The first one always goes the slowest. I painted a beautiful elk decoy yesterday. It is pretty enough to be hanging on my wall. I've got to paint the other side today, and stitch it up. Definitely looking forward to adding it to my bag of tricks. I'll try to post a pic, but I don't know if I can figure out how to do it.

Hey all, it has been about two weeks since I have been able to log on. I could use your prayers. I started feeling sick in mid July, but not bad enough to do anything about. Finally went to the Dr. about 2 and a half weeks ago, and out of that 14 or so days, excluding weekends, I have been back at least 7 times maybe 8. What they thought initially was a virus, has all of the sudden turned into the oncologist/hemotoligist trying to prove that I don't have lymphoma. At this point they don't think I do, but until they prove that I don't they are going to look for it. I have had CT scans, blood work, been poked and prodded until I am more sick from the Doc's, than whatever is actually causing me to be sick. So any prayers will be appreciated. Also, the Doc will know by sure sometime next week on whether I have lymphoma, they may not know what I have at that point, but will know if I do have it. I was planning trying to talk all of you into a get together when Rob got here, but don't think that will happen now.

Thing's are great here,....picked up my new ATV yesterday...even got diane to drive it alittle today.Headed out in 5 day's for my Elk/Deer hunt.....hoping to get em both early so we can just concintrate on Geese... :)...Was riding up behind the house yesterday....only got about 100 yd's...and there in the middle of my logging road...sat a Big Ol Bear...2 day's ago Diane had a cub run out in front of her right by the house.. :)................................................ .................................................. ................................PugetSound...Your in our prayer's....keep us posted please.. :)

Wayne1 - - all the best on your hunt ! Let me know how things turn out for you. - - - I tried the bow exerciser, but that old elbow injury started bothering me. I had completely shattered my left elbow in an industrial accident when in my 20s. The doc who did the surgery said I would get some arthritis in the joint when older & I thought he was full of it at the time, but I can feel it now. - - - Anyway, if I go after whitetails this year it'll have to be during the modern gun season - - with either a rifle or maybe a handgun. >>> I'd still like to find a good physical therapist to work with over the coming year and see if there might be things I can do to slowly build up my elbow for next years archery season. I have 3 of the prototypes sitting on my kitchen counter, but I can't get them attached to the webbing like I want. I can't seem to locate the right rivets from hardware stores around here, and it just doesn't look right with what I can find. Very frustrating, and not much time to get it done. The decoy is just a big piece of beige felt that I cut in the shape of an elk. Then I got my creative juices flowing with some fabric paint. I hope to test it out on Labor Day. I also hope to have at least one of my prototypes ready to field test. I'd hoped to have about a dozen out to various people to test, but that hasn't happened. I guess I better get off my butt and get it done. Only a few days left.

Hey all, the doctor told me a couple of days ago that she is starting to think I have some sort of infectious disease. I was pretty excited to hear about that. She is still not convinced that I don't have cancer, and is going to do quite abit more testing, but at least she has cancelled the bone marrow test for the moment. But I am going to have to have an IV of radioactive suger for some x-rays sometime this week or early next week, depending on my blood work this week.

Welcome aboard fellas! We're a pretty friendly bunch on here. We are all pretty knowledgable about something. Whether it interests anybody else is another story. There is likely somebody on here that hunts whatever you're interested in, and is pretty good at it. It's a good place to hang out. Kinda like the local pub.

I'll be out there on Labor Day with bow in hand and elk and deer tags in my pocket, well hopefully hanging on an elk or deer's rack.

Wayne, it's good to know that they all weren't killed last spring. There were enough hunters out there to have put a big dent in the population. I hear they are considering making the turkey tag extra again. I'm all for it. Maybe that would keep some of the dumb@$$es that don't know anything about hunting turkeys(and don't want to learn) out of the woods. Plus it would give more revenue to manage flocks. Absolutely nothing against newcomers to the sport, but when you've got guys who say &quot;Yeah, we thought since we had a tag we'd come over here and see if we could sneak up on one&quot; that scares the hell out of me. What did you think of my decoy? I hope to put it to use on Labor Day. Good luck on your trip!

well all i have some good news and some BAD news. i was up early and ran to wal-mart to get somethings for the opener this weekend.so i am on my way back and about 3 miles from my house i see something on the side of the road that gets my attention, now keep in mind i am going about 65. so i am looking over and its a HUGE flock of wild turkeys. {now this is amazing to me because my wife and i have searched the whole area and seen nothing,we had heard storys that NWTF had released some up in the area but we looked and looked with no avail} so i am checking out this flock totally shocked when i look back in front of me and out of nowhere a hen flies up from the shoulder on my side of the road. i didn't even have time to start to hit the brake.WHAM<img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle> i nail her, so i pull off on the side off the road real quick get out and walk back to see if she had any chance, well she was gone<img src=icon_smile_dead.gif border=0 align=middle> but the saddest part that made me feel horrible is there coming up the shoulder are about four little poults peeping at her and she was long gone. so i get back in the truck after moving her off the road and i get home my wife is outside with thedogs asks me whats on the front of the truck. i walk up and there in the grill is a whole wing stuck. so i went inside dressed in all black and morned for the rest of the day<img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle>

afternoon all Hope everyone is having a good weekend, sorry I haven't been on here, been busy with this class, so much homework, writing papers, and speeches. The inspection went well only had three kids in the class fail, I passed. Yesterday went and looked at some land to duck hunt on, very nice 9 miles right along the coast, the season opened up here today, But the county I live in doesn't alow hunting on sundays, oh well. Hello all. I'm getting ready to hop in the truck in an hour or so to head to Stampede Pass to look for a bull. I figured there wasn't any point in sleeping since I'd have to leave so early anyway, and I can never get to sleep the night before the first hunt. I'll take a nap before first light in the comfort of my Chevy, and maybe a midmorning siesta under a tree somewhere. Robb, I'll think about you as I'm up in the clouds blowing on an elk call. How's your weather today?

Any other stick-n-string toters on here have any luck so far? Hopefully Wayne will drop a nice one this week, and tell us all about it when he gets back.

Evening all hope all is well, been busy today, mowing the yard and chaning out the fuel pump in my jeep, that was fun yeah right, the weather has been alright, no rain!!! little windy but other than that the sun actually came out a couple of times today! They started cutting the wheat fields today, the smell rememinds me of home!!! Wish every one the best of lcuk!!!

Well other than locating some really good big buck sign and shooting a fat grouse, not much happened today. I got some good exercise, and spent the morning in the beautiful outdoors. I didn't find much in the way of elk sign, but did find a few fresh elk rubs. Nice looking spot, so hopefully I'll see something next time. I realized that I'm too old for making hunting trips without any sleep though. I'm wiped out. I should've known better, and will next time. Good night all.
