I just bought a Benelli Nova. Have an 870 express and it wasn't pumping smoothly at all aven after cleaning it numerous times. Also, started to rust at the first sign of water. I bought the Nova in camo so I wouldn't have to worry about rusting.

Do you want a pump or auto?for under 400 bills your pretty limited. As Brad already mentioned, the Rems rust up real quick... and lets not forget the unfinneshed barrels they supply with their guns. Maybe a Mossberg 500 will do the trick for you ...or an 835. I hear the Nova's are pretty good, but have never tried one.

$398 for a Mossberg 935 in semi auto.
Walmart has them, or you can order them.

I know you are only looking to pay $350 but take it from me, spend theextra money and buy a Benelli M1. I had a Mossberg pump which Ibought at a nice price, however, the old adage that you get what you pay for. Bought an used M1 and it is simply outstanding.

I'm gonna jump on the Remmington 870 bandwagon! Good solid gun and here in Dallas they're on sale for 179.00 + tax.

Mossberg makes a decent 12 gauge in the 500 series if you're looking to compare.
