a little chapstick can stop it from sticking. What type of terrain do you usually hunt pond, big lake, timber, ect.? How much are you looking to spend?

in general the double reed call is easier to make good sound. but id say the best thing is to ask your buddies if u can try theirs maybe go to a store and start blowing and find one u like.

just apply some chapstic on the reed? sounds sweet.

yeah, just put some on the tone board where the reed touches it. It's not a guaranteed fix but it helps. Some calls stick more than others. I would go with a double reed if you don't need a real loud call. I use a foiles dead meat mallard. It's a medium volume call and it's real ducky sounding. I like the zink power hen 2 also. They make that one in a 30 dollar plastic version as well as acrylic..

For years I have used Mallard tone calls - the D4 was my favorite.

Recently I purchased a few custom duck calls learning from the use of my custom turkey calls purchased and have since given my old faithful call to my grandson. Boy was I missing the boat. Recieving a hand tuned call is far better than a mass produced call.

I like double and single reed. If the reeds stick take a bit of time and blow on the other end to remove moisture and or debri.

I need to find my camera to show you my 3 brand new duck calls and my new goose call all from Priarie Calls.
