yeah, just put some on the tone board where the reed touches it. It's not a guaranteed fix but it helps. Some calls stick more than others. I would go with a double reed if you don't need a real loud call. I use a foiles dead meat mallard. It's a medium volume call and it's real ducky sounding. I like the zink power hen 2 also. They make that one in a 30 dollar plastic version as well as acrylic..
