Typically all new shotguns that are designed for waterfowl hunting in mind are chambered for 3" or 3 1/2" these days. I wouldn't buy a shotgun for hunting waterfowl or pheasants chambered less than 3". There is so much more selection of ammo for these in waterfowl loads, too. Unless you load your own, you may have a tough time finding any variety in 2 3/4" waterfowl loads.

I suppose you've already gotten the shotgun. If not, I'd recommend taking a hard look at Benelli M2 (3") or Benelli Super Black Eagle II (3 1/2") Both are terrific, reliable shotguns with the inertia bolt ejection system. They will both serve you well in all types of weather and conditions.

Anyway, have fun in your new sport.

Remington 870 hands down. You can use the 870 as a push pole or a paddle than put 3 shells in it and shoot at some ducks with out the gun jaming on you. Theres not to many other ones out there you can do that with.

Dude, get the 870. IMO, get it in 3.5" for versatility's sake, and if you can spend the extra coin, get the wingmaster simply because it's blued and will hold up better to the elements than the parkerizing. I've got two expresses (which are parkerized), one of which I painted with flat black rust o leum because we hunt salt marshs. The parkerizing is a complete pain. (Is it only my dogs that wait to shake until they're back in the blind and can douse the guns?)
