painting decoys
i am 16 years old, and just starting duck hunting last year. i got decoys from my grandpa, they are his old ones and are in decent shape. ive heard painting decoys really helps and am wondering should i paint these. they are a little dirty paint there is no chips in the paint or anything. if i should paint them, what kind of paint should i use. i have some canvasback, pintail, and mallard decoys.

RE: painting decoys
If you decide to paint them, Canvasbacks are attracted to white so where ever you currently have white on the decoy paint it (flat) white it should be enough (Drakes Only) that will draw them in to the point they will see the hen decoys. I paint the heads on my Mallards every year again Drakes only and use Acrylic paint that I get at the hobby store. It is sold for model car building. I can't tell you how realistic it is If you are interested I can get you the make and color. Can't help with the Pintails

I think krylon makes a spray paint called fusion that is designed tobond to plastic if you decide to paint your decoys. I know they have white and a few other colors last time I looked but I don't know how many.
