FarNorth, let's say getting familiar with. I have the older Creative suite premium, which does not include Premier. Like I said this is new to me. I think I will upgrade to their new master suite. That pretty much includes everything they make. From what I have read or heard, that is the most in depth software available, but how difficult is it for a beginner?

Any Adobe products are what I would call advanced software. I've learned Photoshop and my wife is pretty proficient with it and Illustrator. What I did when I started learning Photoshop was to get the Adobe Classroom in a Book. Pretty much the same thing I did learning Final Cut Pro. Got a book, read it, and hit the computer. It's the easiest way for me to learn things. I've been using FCP for a few years now and am learning stuff all the time. It's not an every day thing, but I use it pretty regularly. One great resource on the web is lynda.com. Check out what they offer for free, but what they charge for all the tutorials seems to be a great deal.

I really like working with two monitors. I can customize one for getting the most work space on and using the second for other windows, tool palettes, etc. The only hunting project I have going right now is a dall sheep hunting video that will hopefully be done early next year. I just got done with a wedding and a fund raising banquet for the Alaska Moose Federation. The AMF deal is my donation to them. They're paying for the dvd's and packaging and I get some good exposure here and the western US.
Floppy disk for drivers, now that's funny. I love my Mac.

I am not sure if the 128 Mb video card is going will handle HD, I am shooting SD right now. I can always upgrade. Everything workg great! I love it!
I say what is up with the floppy also.. not sure why they put that drive in there.
FarNorth, How do you like working with two monitors? I am set up for two but only have one. Are you working on any projects? Have you done any videos etc? Just curious.
I have two questions.
1. Is the 128 Mb video card going to be enough when you go to render in After Effects and handle HD?
2. What is up with the floppy drive?

I also run dual monitors and I LOVE it. I like being able to do 2 things at once. When I do occasionally unhook one monitor, I feel like I am lost, I use it so much. It is really handy to have.

I thought I would jump in as well.
I am using Mac as well. Using a little older machine, dual G-4 2.0 GHZ processors, 4 GB of RAM, Dual 17" flat panels, and upgraded the system to OS 10.4 and running the brand new Final Cut Studio 2.0 design suite, and also have the new Adobe CS3 Master Suite with Premiere Pro CS3 and After Effects, Photoshop CS3, etc. It's nice to have the Adobe on the Mac now!! I started out with the Adobe Premiere and converted to Mac and Final Cut, but it's nice to now have the option of the 2. Some of Adobe's software is better to use, while some of Final Cut's is as well, now I can pick and chose which I like and it is all compatible!! The dual monitors is the only way to go also!
Much more efficient use of time! A good cheap and effective way to start out for some one would be the Adobe Premiere Elements software, it is very beginner and user friendly and very capable as well! And only a fraction of the price.
