I have two questions.
1. Is the 128 Mb video card going to be enough when you go to render in After Effects and handle HD?
2. What is up with the floppy drive?

BTW, I'm a MAC user. I haven't had a floppy drive for ever.
My set up is a MacIntel dual core 2.66 Mhz
10 GB 667 Mhz ram
500 GB SATA system drive
3 1TB internal drives (all SATA)
2 256 Mb video cards
2 Viewsonic 19" widescreen monitors
Dual layer dvd burner
Final Cut Studio 2

I love the toys, I mean tools!

I am not sure if the 128 Mb video card is goingwill handleHD, I am shooting SD right now. I can always upgrade. Everything workg great! I love it!

I say what is up with the floppy also.. not sure why they put that drive in there.

FarNorth, How do you like working with two monitors? I am set up for two but only have one. Are you working on any projects? Have you done any videos etc? Just curious.

Running Windows XP and having SATA drives you'll be happy to have that floppy if you ever have to replace a drive, reformat, or reinstall windows. Since XP came out before SATA drives you have to load the drivers for the MBwhen loading the OS and the only real way to do it well is with a floppy.

I really like working with two monitors. I can customize one for getting the most work space on and using the second for other windows, tool palettes, etc. The only hunting project I have going right now is a dall sheep hunting video that will hopefully be done early next year. I just got done with a wedding and a fund raising banquet for the Alaska Moose Federation. The AMF deal is my donation to them. They're paying for the dvd's and packaging and I get some good exposure here and the western US.
Floppy disk for drivers, now that's funny. I love my Mac.:D

mlo,
What software would you recommend for a newbie? I have worked in the industry but on the other side. I want toshoot and edit my own stuff now. Most of the producers always recommend Final Cut with a Mac Pro but I do not have the extra cash for that.My IS guy is building me a new PC. I have the CS2 suite but do not have Premier.

RE: My Editing Computer Setup

td8541, I am sure they are all good. I have only ever used Adobe Premiere so I can only recommend Premiere Pro 2.0.
