Never been there. Where are you traveling from? Ever try Nebraska? Look at the NE section, you won't be disappointed.

Im from north central Iowa. Hunted half a day today n got our limit easy. I also got the biggest bird of my life today. Getting it mounted the tail feather was 25 1/2 with out pulling it out. In January id find some dreg ditches with thick cover. Thats not snowed in. Most of the farmers will let you hunt if you ask, this late in the season. The birds will be very spooky so make sure you have posters. Everyone says the bird number is down, but doesn't seem like it to me. What towns ya hunting by?

You are talking about Dickinson County. The county seat is Spirit Lake. There are several other towns all real close together. I am not from there but I did live 30 miles east of there in Estherville there are a lot of public hunting areas around there. To my knowledge the bird population is usually pretty good. I hope your hunt is Scheduled for the first part of the Month as the season ends on January 10th.

Good luck to you!

I live in north central Iowa as well. Seams everyone is seeing as many birds as last year around here. Actually have seen the most off this public place I frequent alot.

Was around Whiting when the season opened and we limited 2 days with 6 guys. Went back last weekend and hunted with my brother-they were flying wild so posters are essential. We did not limit but that is because he still can't shoot straight.
