I just purchased and finished reading "Grouse Feathers" and "More Grouse Feathers" by Spiller. Has anybody ever read these or his other two books? They really get me pumped for Grouse hunting even tho the numbers of grouse are way down here in N.W. Pa. Is there anybody out there who hunts this area? Also how have the grouse numbers been looking if there is somebody?

Longbowman- I hunt NE PA for grouse yearly and have found the bird numbers strong in my areas. I've never read Spiller though, I'll have to check him out.

I have hunted North of you in the Fingers lakes area for grouse and find the bird numbers less in that area.

My wife gave me those books several years ago. We have such a few Ruffs in SD that I have never had the opportunity to hunt them. I have however hunted Sage grouse, Sharptail and Pinnated grouse a lot when I was younger. Pinnated are as you probably know also called Prairie chickens.
