I drew a limited permit for a 3 day hunt at Camp Robinson in North Little Rock that starts next Tuesday morning and I was wonder how the Arkansas birds are acting. I'm hoping that the hens are starting to nest and the gobblers are getting fired up.
Any information that you could throw out there would be appreciated.

Thanks for the information. I have been doing work at CJTR for about 5 years and there always seems to be a high number of birds on post. Hopefully I can pull it off. This is the first time that I have put in for one of the permit hunts.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Well, I sealed the deal on my first Arkansas Eastern this morning at 7:30. The bird gobbled about 8 times while still on the roost, but once he hit the ground he shut up. My buddy and I had moved in closer to his position before he hit the ground, and I purred and clucked a few times and he snuck in behind us as silent as a mouse. I shot him at about 20 yards through the brush. he weighed 23 lbs and sported 1 3/8" spurs. He had a severe case of beard rot, and only had a few hairs left. The longest of which was 9".
