This is the first year I will be hunting turkey and I heard my first gobble today. I have heard them on the videos and read about them in the books, but this was way better. It was raining hard and I was soaked making my way through the woods on another scouting mission. The rain had calmed and I heard it *GOBBLE* I froze in my tracks and was in disbelief, but then all of the sudden he sounded again *GOBBLE*. I waited and it was silent for a while. I gave three CAW CAW CAWs on my crow call and nothing. This probably isn't a big deal to anyone else, but many hours/miles of scouting and today was the first time I heard one.

Very cool Colin. Its tough to explain to a non turkey hunter how that sound makes you feel. Just to be certain you heard a gobble, why dont you give me the exact location, GPS coordinates would be good. Since you cant get out on the season opener, I figure I can help you verify what you heard, lol.

Well now that you heard a gobble you're hooked for life. Sometimes you can get a gobbler going and I've heard one once gobble every 30 seconds or so for almost 2 hrs!!! It was awesome. Well good luck now on your first GOBBLER! Let us know how you do.

i dont remember my first gobble, i wish i did. You have to love that sound, and everytime you hear it, its getting closer and closer. A really clear loud gobble on a crisp spring morning, now that is the life.
Congratulations

I will warn you right now it is an addicting sound!!!!! It will drive you insane the more you hunt, especially when they hang up at 60 yards and gobble their ugly heads off at you!!!!!!!
