Gobbling in Mississippi?
Hey guys and gals. I live in north GA. but always go back to my home state of Mississippi to chase those easterns. Do any of you hunt down around the Jasper Co. area? If so, have they started gobbling yet?
I would also like to know how many of you hunt in Mississippi?
What areas?

I think you should be just about right in your timing. I hunt in Simpson, Scott, Copiah, and Smith counties mostly. The last 2 years, the birds seemed to be peaking about the 30th when a big storm came through and shut 'em down hard! They just never gobbled after that where I was. Dunno...
Welcome home, and Good Luck!!

Went to MS last year for my spring break and turkey hunted around Brookhaven, I have family there.
Had a fun time, but it seemed a bit too early for the turks. They weren't gobbling much or struttin or anything.
Maybe this year is different...

Thanks for heads-up on the timing, Barefoot/FroMan. I think I will go ahead and come down the week that I originally planned. I hunt at Randal Hill Deer Club in Jasper Co, 5600 acres. Hunting pressure is usually not too bad, so hopefully my timing will be good. Keep me posted on the activity down there. Gobbling that is.
