I am thinking about raisin some turks around the house. Just to get to now the sounds and stuff to become a call expert lol . What do you guys think of my idea???? And i might turn a few loose behind my house in our lands woods and see if they will multiply there are no turks in this area.

If there are no turkeys there and you want some there.... sure go for it..... just make sure you don't trap them in a different state.... hmmm some of the turk experts would know more than me.....

Get your self a tape or Cd if you want to learn turkey sounds,letting pen raised birds loose in the wild isn't a good idea,thats why NWTF traps live wild birds to transplant instead of raising and releasing

In alot of states it is illegal to release pen raised birds into the wild.

I think that's a bad idea. I agree with Totoe. The predators will probably pick most of them off in one night. And I've heard pen raised wild turkeys have diseases that other turkeys don't so they'll die before they are mature gobblers.

Don't forget that pen-raised turkeys can also transmit diseases among the wild population. Wild turkeys don't have the immunity that some farmed turkeys have.
