Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

mkacala697: For the most part the gun is your choice, Remington is mine a 11-87. It is what ever you can afford at the time, you can always upgrade at a later time. My choice of ammo is 3" mag. #4 shot from Federal works well in my gun, but each gun is different so you have to try different loads in your gun you get. As for pellets in the kill zone (head and neck area) I get around 20 to 25 in the kill zone at 40 yards. Good Luck and Hunt safe.

Remington 870 SuperMag is a great gun...you can get different chokes and use it for a wide variety of hunting. Shoots a 3 1/2 inch mag if you want.

Mossberg 835 Ulti-Mag is a good shotgun.

If your on a tight budget get a mossberg 500. Comes with everything you need. Except shells. Try shooting federal or winchesters in 5 or 6 shot. they tend to pattern well out to 40 yards.

There are a lot of good guns out there for turkey hunting. Check out a mossberg 500. Me personally i like the Remington line of guns. Now for killing a turkey you need to get at least 3 to 4 pellets in the kill zone(brain and neck vertebra). Start out shooting at 30 yards and see how many hits in the vitals(brain and neck vertebra) you get. If the pattern looks good try 35 and then 40. I would not recomend shooting at a wild turkey past 40 yards. Now as for shells most people are using Winchester turkey loads i would try Win #5's first and if they dont shoot well then try the other turkey loads on the market(Fed,Rem) hope this helps you out.
