Setting Hen Decoys

Setting Hen Decoys
This is just a quick question, I think I read that if you set a hen decoy lower to the ground, it will make the hen look like it is willing to breed. Is this true, and would it help to bring in a wary ol' gobbler??

RE: Setting Hen Decoys
That's true, but that is usually only used in conjunction with a jake decoy placed near the hen deke and behind her. It's designed to make the longbeard think that jake is about to breed the hen, something no self-respecting tom would allow, thus bringing him in to stop it.
It can be very effective.

I like to have a hen that stands off to the side while I have a hen that is lower to the ground with a jake right by her. Like it was said above, it looks like the jake is about to breed the hen and it infuriates a tom. Better shoot him before he gats to your decoy though. He may tear it up. Especially the inflatable decoys like I use.
