Setting up Decoys, How I did it.
#1
Please any comments I would love. I am just trying to get better.
Ok I hope to learn from some of you Turkey guys.
This is how I had my setup on Monday. The green blocks are wood lots. The red circles are my Turkey decoys.
I have the Jakes facing me, and the hens looking down the road. My though was a turkey would check out the first two than turn to
check out the back Jake. It is how it happen, but I pretty sure it was just luck.
How do some of you guys setup your decoys and how many?
Thanks for the help.

I've never set that many dekes out before, the most I've done is three. That doesn't mean you shouldn't or that it wont work, I've just never carried that many out before. When I set 3, I usually do 2 hens anda jake, I like to keep them pretty close to me, like within 15 yards most of the time, 20 yards at most. Did you killa bird with this setup?

I'm sure you heard of the " love triangle " this set up works really good in the early season when breeding is at it's peak.
Put one jake decoy about 10 to 15 yards in front of your blind with the decoy facing you and set two hens on each side of the jake about 20 yards facing the other way.
During the mid season you'll want to use more hens , maybe four at the most with a " bubba strut " decoy in the middle of them.
As the breeding season comes to the end and most toms are henned up , try a breeding pair decoy or use one feeding hen and place it on the ground and put a jake on top of the hen by the tail end of it.
Use diffrent types of set ups for diffrent times of the season , using decoys will work most of the time but then there are those times when just plain calling will bring them in.

My though process was if I was looking for a little love, I would head to a party
I have read after I did this of course that putting out to many Jakes is a bad thing. Jakes gang up on the tom and give him an arse whipping
