I've walked away smiling every time
( I think ). If I didn't I can't remember it. My only tip for you is to put rocks in the bottom of your pants leggs before you go... cause their sure to roll up the first time yo get a big ole tom to comming your
way !!!!

I usally kill 6 to 8 deer with a bow and 1 or 2 with a rifle and 1 or 2 with the smoke pole. Turkeys i usally only take one a year sometimes 2. Yes i think it is harder to kill a turkey than a deer.

Don't get me wrong but turkey hunting and hasn't been as hard as deer hunting for me. I seem to walk in the woods, setup, call, and a tom comes around and I shoot him. However I also see this as a string of pure luck too and thank God for what he has given me. Deer just seem to know how to avoid me better.

Personally I think it is my calling that is most effective and the main factor of why I'm still running 100% successful for the last 7 years. I've adopted the Will Primo attitude for calling turkeys, &quot;Call often, call loud, and call aggressively&quot;. It works for me!!!!

Being in an area with a lot turkeys might be another reason too!!!

Rip4par I'm glad that there is someone else out there that knows the deal. A lot of people think that these guys walk on water. I know for a fact that i could kill 5 or 6 birds a year if i hunted were these guys hunt. But thats ok I know if you can take turkeys off public land every year consistently then you can take turkeys anywhere. <img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle>

I agree with R4P and Mr.Longbeard.Even tougher is harvesting a longbeard on hardhunted ground.Jakes can come easy if you beat everyone to the punch but wary ole longbeards on pressured ground can be a tough experience!
