im pretty sure this was posted here recently but i cant seem to find it....someone said they cut above and bellow the spurs and then you have a bone ring connected to the spurs...how is this done? just cut above the spur on the leg then bellow it?? then what..skin it and take the meat off and polish it up????? the spurs wont fall off when skinning it or anything?? i just want to make sure before i get the saw out and have to cry myself to sleep because i ruined my first turkeys spurs! thanx...i plan on having them hang on my fan mount or maybe a neclace type thing.....anyone..im pretty sure it was this board...i jsut cant find it.....thanx

thanx alot..i thought thats what i read and thought it was at this board...so the spur must be connected to the bone so it wont fall off?? im such a worry freak...instead of boiling my first bucks skull cap i skinned it and dug everything by hang so i didnt break any bone or change the antler colors....thanx alot...i will try it out when i get a chance..

Thats the way I do spurs. Make sure you push the marrow out of the bones with pipe cleaner or some wire. After it looks done, I stick the bone in a dixie cup of Boraxo for a few days.
By the way, I don' t even take the hair and hide of my bucks skull caps. Just hit it all good with that Boraxo and she' ll stay on there. Looks better, if you mount it, than one of those goofy velvet skull covers.
