Hey guys,I'm going on a Rio hunt in May in Kansas. If I get a large enough bird, I'm planning on getting it mounted as I'm from Illinoisand Rio's don't make it this far east. I've already got an eastern mounted in full strut sitting in my basement and I'm trying to decide how I would mount the Rio. At first I was set on a flying mount, but then I thought gobbling on the roost would be cool. Any suggestions or has anyone seen anything unique that they though looked really neat? Thanks.

That Hazel Creek site is awesome! Thanks for referring me to it. Found several possibilities on there. They have one that's a half strut gobbling rio that looks pretty awesome. I like the flying just because it shows the sheer size of the bird. Although, you can't really see the spurs with a flying mount.

I would wait and see how the hunt goes. If the one you get is a bird that is gobbling like crazy off the roost then a roost mount would be cool. If you see him fly down and call him in then a flying mount would fit. The bird I got last year was gobbling like crazy, but never got to full strut. He'd blow up half way and then hammer a gobble out. So that's how I got him mounted, in a half strut gobble pose.
Capture the memory of the hunt as well as getting the mount.
Good luck.
