so after two full days of hunting hard i have nothing to show for it other than some good footage of a strutting hen.
Here is the problem.
i have 23 acres all wooded, the problem being that the turkeys are roosting and strutting on my neighbors who has a 100 acre cattle pature.
And no he will not let me hunt it. so all i can do is set up as close as i can to the fence line and hope i can get one to come take a look. i have seen at least 5 different gobblers in this pasture. i am honed in on one but will be happy to take any of them. two of them have thier own personal harem of hens. gobbling is decent on the roost but slow down to almost non-exsitint into the morning.
What else can i do other than setting up close to the property line.
also i am in missouri and cannot hunt the afternoon.

Just keep at it. The goblers are henned up now. Once they have mated with a lot of hens they will be easier to call. I hunt in Northeast Missouri and it's been that way for years.
Good luck,

With only 23 acres, not much legally you can do, except look for more turkey land for next year...

Yeah that was my thinking as well.
Is there a fence between that cattle pasture and your woodlot?

With 23 acres make 1 acre food plot about hundred yards from property line, with clover, timothy mix and corn. Make in shape of boomerang. That won't help this spring , but for fall and future. Good Luck.

I think 23 acres is plenty, especially if they are roosting close. Are your decoys set up where the gobblers can see them before they fly down? Do you use multiple calls? Are you using decoys? I usually put out 4 or 5 decoys, feather flex. I takeone hen, using 1/2 of a stake, pin her close to the ground like she's getting ready to mate. Take a jake decoy and place over her as close as possible to simulate mating. This sometimes will entice a gobbler to run him off. Place other decoys out around the flock but not too close. If you have a fence or creek it will be hard as heck to call them over either.
Just keep at it and good luck.

i have more land but this land is holding the bird that i have been watching. I have been using multiple calls. 3 different slates, a mouth call, adn a wing bone yelper. i have been using two different deke setups. one with a full strut tom and hens, and one with a reg jake with hens. hens are in both feeding and breeding positions. decoys are placed about 15 feet on my side of the fence. 23 acres is more than enough around here considering the amnount of turkey these areas hold. roosting is taking place anywhere from 150 to 300 yards away. closing the gap isn't the problem. i have called these gobblers to within fifty yards multiple times. but i cant get them to crest the last ridge to where they can see the dekes.
i will be hunting other land 3 days next week but i will be mostly calling and videotaping others. if two gobblers come in i will drop the hammer on one. the one i have my eye on believe it or not has at least a 12" beard. it is almost dragging the ground without him being in strut.
i guess persistence will eventually pay off. i'll be at it again in the morning.

Well there will be a time - no ladys will come to him as he sits there and struts and gobbles - and at that point - you could pass gas and he will come a'runnin!
Hang in there bud - he sure does sound like a worthy adversary........now your goal is not to over call and wait for that time.......
A lone decoy is all I would use.....if at all

swap deer rights with your nieghbor to have turkey rights to his pasture....... get on good terms with them, help them with thier place....also the hens wont nest in the wide pasture, and will tend to gravitate to the better nesting cover as the season progreses, hang in there ......
