Leave the calls in the truck and just scratch in the leaves.

Less is more, in MOST cases while hunting these birds. If you discover a pattern, go for it, this might be your best bet! Less calling, more stalking, or aggressive tactics might work. Good luck!

I agree...Or just wait until about 10-11am, give him a few purrs, scratch the leaves and shut up...I had one that it took and hour and a half to work his way in...

btw...Are they really call shy, or just going the other way with hens???

Know where they want to go and get there first...It may take 2-3 days or so to figure this out.....

If nothing is working, I like to just lightly drive the turkeys, too get them to go where I want. Why should play by their rules? This tactic works, but you only want to do this if there are only a few birds, this way you won't educate them as much. This works good IMO.

If they are henned up and not just call shy you might want to try to bust the flock like you do in the fall. Sometimes that tom will get a whole pile of hens and will be content to sit there and strut and basically ignore all those calls you are making. With that many hens already he isn't going to go to a call. But if you can break the flock up and get him seperated from the hens all of a sudden that bird becomes real callable (if that is even a word). Or better yet you might be able to set up and have the real hens call him back to you. Just another idea to think about.

We did that to them a last year in missouri. There was this group of about 15 toms and they wouldn't come in for nothing. So we decided to watch them fly up, then when it got pitch black out we busted them like we do in the fall. Then in the morning we wouldnt call to much just make a few goobles and a few cuts.

Sometimes if you have two people you can have one person fall back and call. If they seem to be hanging up.
