I never really scored a turkey and reading several posts on here decided to score my bird from last yr It came out to be 72.8115. All my birds are trophies to me, but is there a number that generally is considered a "trophy bird" thanks for your input Matt

In order to answer that question , you whould have to go to the NWTF web site and look into there records.
In my opinion any bird whighing over twenty two pounds and has beard length of thirteen inch's with spurs of one and seven eight's would be considered a record holder.

Spurs are really crucial when it comes to making a trophy bird. But the scoring system is weighted pretty evenly. In order to get a bird that is a record level Tom, you either have to have one VERY high score, such as 2.25" spurs or a 14" beard or weigh around 30 lbs; or just have a large bird that is top notch in all three, as written above.
Just incase anyone is curious about how turkey's are "scored", here is a link to the NWTF website's page on scoring a Tom.
