Default Clean Turkey Calls

One thing I don't like about this time of year is putting those old turkey calls in my mount after sitting all year. Anyone have any cleaning tips? I found this online - pretty neat. www.diaphresh.com I will try this next year, but in the meantime - I need some cleaning advice.

I just give 'em a rinse with warm water and pop 'em in. If it's been a while since you've used it and it's dry, chances are probably good that there isn't too much living on it. And anyways, my old ones just taste like spit. No biggie...

When you are done with them for the day wash them offf with some anitbacterial mouthwash. Pat them dry and put them in the refrigerator until you use them next. This will keep the reeds from dry rotting.

Yeah, if you do this be sure to use an antibacterial rinse, because I see alot of turkey hunters during the 2nd week of the season, coming into the clinic, because of tonsilitis and strep related using nasty diaphragms.

just saw on a hunting show this week on outdoor channel. this guy said to make them last, clean then in antibacterial mouthwash, and store them in airtite ziplock bag. to keep them from drying out, put some mouthwash in the ziploc bag,to keepthem moist, and store inrefrigerator. the cold constant environment keeps the reeds from streching out, and the mouthwash keeps them from drying out which is the number one reason mouthcallsgo bad.

im going to try this because it sounds like good info.

I never even thought about caring for my mouth calls. I always just popped them back in the plastic case. I'll be making some changes now. Thank you!
