Dang, son!! You just have all kinds of technical issues....[&:] First I've heard from you today. Thought maybe you left the house twice in one week!

Is the file too large or will it just not load?

Good lookin bow mo. I have wondered what is the hot thing about the acc's. I have heard that they have an aluminum core or something like that. Enlighten me Mo. What site do you have on your bow? Did the drop away make a bit of difference in the accuracy of your setup.

well, salty my boy......this could takea while, but we'll give it a shot. A/C/C stands for Aluminum Carbon Composite. Aluminum core wrapped in carbon. The tolerances are incredibly tight. They are very straight, the weight is the same, and most importantly the spine is consistent. Add the uni bushing with the X nock and you've got one bad arrow. The nock fits very tight which is the problem with most arrows. A loose nock = inconsistent arrow flight. I was shooting Beman ICS Hunter and Easton Carbon Excel. I switched earlier this year and my groups at 20 yards went from 1 1/2" - 2" down to less than an inch. I have 5 arrows in an X ring all touching each other. Penetration is unbelievable. I shoot COMPLETLY through our wall at the shop and it sticks into the outside wall of the building. They are expensive, but man.......I swear they are the best arrow made.

The sight is the Star Track by Vital Bow Gear. I just got it tonight and I love it already. Check out my review in the review forum.

Yes, the Drop Zone also made an immediate impact on my shooting. Next time I'm at the shop I'll take a photo of one of my groups and you'll get the idea. With the Drop Zone, fletching clearance is a non issue. Besides the fact that there is virtually no drag on the arrow, life is good. I could go on all night about archery, but I fear my fingers may give out on me. Any other questions, don't hesitate to ask, you will learn, my young Padowan....The force is strong with you.

TeeJay, if you feel the desire, email me the photo and I'll run it through photoshop and send it back to you. If you don't want to...hey, no sweat there either.

well I mine may not be top of the new tech bows but I get in close and get the job done with my trusty bear kodiak recurve Port ord cedar arrows and snuffer 150 grain blades. shooting out of a double bull blind.

Hey mo do you get your arrows locally or through mail order. What place do you get them from.

RE: Official Team ThunderStrut (10) thread.

what broadhed would you guys suggest for turkeys? will my muzzys work and NO brand bashing and no i am not gonna go slick tricks

TeeJay 03-25-2006 05:00 PM

RE: Official Team ThunderStrut (10) thread.

Yes your muzzy will work. Normally the bigger the hole the better. If you have your muzzy dialed in use them. I prefer a big mechanical myself.

RE: Official Team ThunderStrut (10) thread.

thnaks teejay i have been parcticing on head shots even though most of the time it wil be a body shot unless it is absolutely perfect

RE: Official Team ThunderStrut (10) thread.

What do you think of this pattern

saltflat 03-25-2006 05:28 PM

RE: Official Team ThunderStrut (10) thread.

Or how about these

saltflat 03-25-2006 05:29 PM

RE: Official Team ThunderStrut (10) thread.

I didn't think they patterned all that good at 30 yards. I think i will have to try # 4 shot again. I was gatting almos 15 pellets with # 4

mobow 03-25-2006 05:34 PM

RE: Official Team ThunderStrut (10) thread.

bowhunter, sounds like a good turkey getter to me. How do you like that DB blind. I just got one a month or so ago.

salt, I get mine from my local pro shop. I don't have an arrow saw, so I get raw shafts, he cuts them and I take them home and build them. There are places you can get them from, like eders and such, but I figure they are expensive enough without having to pay shipping. Looks like a good pattern to me.

oneshot, your Muzzy will do the trick. No worries about that. I shoot a big 2" Rocket Hammerhead. More damage the better with them small vitals.

Even though I stictly bowhunt, I went to BassPro and got a new shotgun today. My son will be using it for turkey and I will use it mostly for dove and such. It's a Stoeger P-350 12 ga. I like it well so far.

TeeJay 03-25-2006 05:41 PM

RE: Official Team ThunderStrut (10) thread.

Salt buddie, I would be working on something 11 pellets at 30 yds is iffy at best.

Mo the gun should work, how old is the boy. I have a 10 and a 8 yr old. Have you guys checked out this new site called themidwesthunter.com it is like HNI but meant for just the midwesterners. It is pretty cool check it out!

Oneshot7 03-25-2006 06:06 PM

RE: Official Team ThunderStrut (10) thread.

the second pattern is the best ut neither are all that well and hwat brand was it .

I have been practicing head shots today and got 4 out of 8 arrows in the kill sone but the others would have done the job witha broadhead on the end of it instead of a feild point but i am gonna take the base of the neck as my target as that is the most prone spot on the turkey

saltflat 03-25-2006 06:09 PM

RE: Official Team ThunderStrut (10) thread.

I have a tru glo choke on my gun. I think I am going to try something else like an undertaker or something. I like the way th federals patterned but I think I could do better with A different shot size. At 20 yards all of the shells were blowing its head off. I don't know why a 10 yard move could make a 6 inch drop in the shot placement. Any help you guys got is very welcome. I just dont know if its me or the choke.

saltflat 03-25-2006 06:11 PM

RE: Official Team ThunderStrut (10) thread.

OOOO I forgot, hey Mo I think wer are gonna have a tuff spring. I was out scoutin today and as I was driving I saw some turkeys so I turned around only to find a tom coming out of strut. This is early I think.

mobow 03-25-2006 06:26 PM

RE: Official Team ThunderStrut (10) thread.

Yeah, salt, I think you are right. It's certainly gonna be tough but mostly because season opens so late. MO DNR says that 80% of the breeding occurs the first 2 weeks of April. That's why the youth hunt is in there but regular season is later. I have said for years season opens too late, and this year is a week later than normal. They've been gobblin and struttin around here for a couple of weeks. The next 3 weeks are when things will really start to happen. It's gonna be a game of patience this year. I don't think calling one in will be the way to go. It's gonna take woodsmanship and a big ole healthy dose of patience. I for one will pretty much be sitting in one or 2 spots all day.

Yeah my choke tube is a 1-1/2" broadhead

Yoy mean till 1 oclock MO. I think that is the dumbest rule I have ever heard.

mobow 03-25-2006 07:05 PM

RE: Official Team ThunderStrut (10) thread.

LOL....agreed. The theory is to give the hens a peaceful afternoon without us dumb hunters tromping around all over the nests.

Oneshot7 03-25-2006 07:25 PM

RE: Official Team ThunderStrut (10) thread.

well then make turkey season before the hens have their nest made is your wildlife dept. retarted ( no offense if you work there mo or salt) why dont they make it all during the time youth season is our youth in nc dont get a special chance or early season

Pat's had a lot of people signing up so he's randomly placing them on teams. I checked the teams thread stuck at the top and noticed them. Just placed them this evening I believe. Besides, we've still got one that hasn't checked in yet.

Okay mt patterns were much better today. I switched chokes and it made a huge difference. My tru glo kept shooting to the right but my undertaker shoots right where aimed.

RE: Official Team ThunderStrut (10) thread.

Thanks for welcoming me guys. So let me get this straight. I can only use one bird for the contest? I don't have to use the first one do I? Just the biggest? Look forward to contributing to the team on April 15th. Good luck to everyone. Shoot em' in the head.
