Default Best Choke and Shell Combo for Ported Moss 835

In a vain attempt to keep the impact on my wallet finding the best choke and shell combo for my Moss 835 to a minimum, I am asking everyone what they're best combos have been with this gun.
So, lets have it, someone has to have a good equation figured out.
I should mention, I want to reach out and tough gobblers at around 40-50 yards, without Hevi-Shot....If this isnt possible, just let me know what you used at the longest range.
Should help others too keep the price of patterning in down.
Thanks!

I gave you some choke/shot size selection examples in the other post. But I didn't give you any name brands. The combo's my friends have used with the best results at50+ydsare.The kicks .685 with 3.5" Winchester HV #4's,and a Star-dot with the same shell.#4's will reach out farther than 40-50.If you only want to shoot 40-50 I would try the kicks .680,and 3.5" WIn HV #5's.This is my friends first bird I called in for him.He shot it with his 835 at 52yds with the 3.5" Winchester HV #4's,and a Star-dot choke.Dropped him in his tracks.I came up with this choke/load combo for him,and you can see he's very satisfied!IMO Star-dot's and Kicks are 2 of the best choke brands, and 3.5"Winchester HV shells are awesome!Just my opinion.

Since you're looking to save money, at least TRY the extra full turkey choke that probably came with your gun (Mine did). I got excellent patterns with it out to 50 yards shooting 3.5" Winchester Turkey Loads in #4 shot. If you aren't happy with the pattern, THEN go buy a different choke.

The 3.5'' winchester HV #6's out of the Star Dot patterned great in mine.

Try a Hasting's choke from Cabelas and the new winchester elite shells.

Thanks for the info everyone. Based on everyones recommendations, I am going to pick up a Star Dotchoke (Got one on Ebay this morning for 9$). I have a question though. Are these StarDots all one constriction for this model Mossberg? I did some searching, and found alot of Star Dots, but didnt notice that there were different constrictions availible for the 835. I am gonna plug into some HV Winchesters, as they are my favorite shell anyway....
May 1st seemsso far off......:-/

My 835 has a Madd Max choke and I shoot Winchester 2 oz # 5's..I was suprised when a friend of mine dropped a gobbler in his tracks at 55 yards...on film..I was camera man that's why he had my gun.....

This combo patterns perfectly for me, but each gun is different and the only way to tell is trying several....one 835 will shoot different from the next....

I looked on my Star Dot pack and they only have one choke listed for the 835 and its a .676. I bought the one I got from Wal-Mart.

I sold the 835, but kept all the chokes b/c I plan on buying a 935 and if I am not mistaken they take the same chokes.

The Star Dot is one of the most impressive chokes I've seen for the money.

BPS is right I'm pretty sure they're all one size.My remington star-dot is .670.The .676 for the star-dot is good for any size. You won't be disappointed in that choke. If you don't plan on shooting past 50yds shoot 3.5" WIn HV 5's.If you are shooting past 50 use the 3.5" Win HV 4's.I'm just not a fan of 6's,but they pattern great also.Hope I helped!

Campo when you shoot it,pm me and let me know how you like it.
