Default Black hills of SD?

My friend says his step dads brother is a guide in in the black hills of South Dakota,and we could go there to hunt Merriams.What does anyone know about this area?Is it a good place to go?I'm fromGa,and haven't been farther west than Missouri.ANY information would be greatly appreciated!
