RE: When to use what turkey sound?
Bosstom gives a great description of turkey talk here. The real key to calling I believe is being able to know what that turkey wants to hear. There's what we call a feeling out process that goes on when we set-up on a gobbler and start calling to him.Ed O. somewhat describes it here but being able to take a gobblers temperature is critical in knowing the proper calls to throw at him. This feeling out process gives us a good idea what call and intensity to use on a particular gobbler.A good rule of thumb is give him what he wants to hear.If he's hittin your every call and comin than pour on the coals,if he is resonding every once in awhile than call to that degree.Tone it down the last 80 yards or so.Experience helps alot here and you will learn alot this first year.Learn to yelp, cluck, and purr and your on your way to callin in a big ole springtime longbeard! <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>
