Default does this sound right

Buying new carbon shaft arrows and decided to go with the full metal jacket Easton Axis. I'm shooting 29"@64 lbs so I figured a 400 gr shaft with a 100 grain tip would work?????

I would say that depending on the bow you could be either a little or alot weak for spine.

With a 29" draw, I would say that your arrows are probably in the range of 28.0" long (nock groove to end of insert/shaft
I shoot a Trykon XL at 65# and a 29" draw and those arrows would spine weak for my setup. I would shoot the 340s instead. If you are shooting any of the faster bows out there then you are probably in the same boat.

If you have an older rig, something with soft cams or wheels then the 400 would probably be fine.

If you post some more details, I can run the number through TAP (The Archery Program) and give you some recomendations on arrow dimensions that would spine perfectly for your rig.

Just a couple of things needed
Bow make and model
Limbs and cams
Draw Length (29")
Draw Weight (65#)
Fingers, or Release

Well, that bow was offered with 2 different limb options

Option 1: XT2000 limbs
This is the higher performance option (IBO 310)
With this setup a .400 spine arrow with a 100gr point and 28" length is a little on the underspined side
I would probably say that it is safe to shoot, but certainly not the optimum setup. I would look for something else.

A better option might be to either back your weight down to 62# where they would spine perfectly
OR
Go with a .340 spined arrow at 29.5"
OR
Use a .340 spined arrow at 28.5" with a 125gr tip (this spines dead center for your setup)

Option 2: ZR200 limbs
Slightly lower performance than the XT2000 limbs (IBO 300)

A .400 spined arrow at 28" wiht a 100gr tip will spine almost perfectly with a 64# draw weight (just a hair on the weak side but still right in the center)
If you go to the .340 spined arrow, you are probably looking at something similar ot the XT2000 limb setup (29.5" wiht a 100gr tip). This arrow spines just a touch on the stiff side, but still well within the shootable range.
The heavier tip option would be the .340 spined arrow at 29" with a 125gr tip (this spines dead center for your setup)

You seem to be smack in the middle between a .400 spine and a .340 spine
I would say that for a 28" arrow with a 100gr tip, an arrow that spines at .385 or there abouts would be a perfect fit for this rig.

Hope this helps.

Not sure if I'll help or not but I'm in a similar situation. I shoot the Mathews Outback at 64# with 28inch arrows (which is my draw length) using a release and shooting 100 grain tips. I bought the Axis Obsessions and the Easton chart called for the 400. but it was right there, if I cranked it up at all or if the arrows would have been 29in. it would have been the 340's.. I went with the 400's and so far so good.

you should get the 340's,with those 400 hundreds you don't have any room to move

True that if you plan on going with a higher pull weight then maybe go with the stiffer spine.
But in my case according to the chart I can go to 66lbs and I really don't think I'll ever hunt whitetail with anything over that so for me it's works out ok.
Being overspined is not a great thing either but I think either one will work in the situation.

I shoot a Trykon at 29.5 draw length, 70 pound pull. The 400 arrows work great. I have even shot 500 arrows with good results.
