2009 Bushnell Trophy Trail Camera
1) After installing an SD card and completing the setup, do not forget to push the slide button to the top. Leaving the slide button in setup will result in: no pictures, dead batteries within a day or less. This is where the rechargeables come in. Taking a few more seconds before leaving may save the day as well as a few bucks.
2) Jarring the camera while it is taking a video, either human error or an animal messing with it will result in: shortened video time as compared to set time for that particular video, and an off color or going full red.
I used this camera as an example because these things have happened to me, and this brand and model is what I have been using.

The Imperfection of the First Time
The first time is always the worst time. I don't care how well the instructions are on most products, there is something missing or not made clear to the newbie. My backyard has been the testing ground for the tree stand, tent setup and will see the next trail cam.
I'll test the trail cam on the dog and save time finding out the ins and outs in the field.
Recently I made some homemade "candle wicks". First time, instructions, should have been easy. Wrong!!!!! Had to make them a second time. The instructions had one word, without any emphasis. They should have underlined the one word. That made all the difference in the world.
I just was interrupted to fix a hand soap dispenser. The operation at first was as clear as mud. Like a lot of first time stuff.

i actually just did that with my stealth cam. i checked it and set it back up with new batteries and checked a week later and batteries were dead with no pictures and I had no idea what happened until I opened it and saw i left it in set up when I was changing the burst mode. I felt like an idiot but i was glad it was only the week and not the next month and a half ill have the cam out for
