Deer stoppers(bait) in front of camera

So what do you use to stop deer from passing by your cams? pnut and I got into a friendly little back and forth in PastorJims thread and I didnt want to hijack his thread so I thought I'd make a new one.
I use the trophyrock. I've had great success and numerous pics with that so I haven't felt the need to try anything else. By the end of a couple months or so its usually eaten up. And if the rain does wash it away, it goes into the ground and I've seen where they'll dig a decent size hole to get it. Any one care to elaborate on what they use?

In the spring i like to set up mineral lickswith trace minerals and deer attractants. I might use corn to get them to start on it. About corn, i used to use it all the time for picture taking purposes, but i have learned over time that it is bad for deer to get patterned on corn so i have done away with it except for above. In the summer i like to put my cameras over field, or clearings, especially earlier in the warm weather cycle to get strutting turkey pictures. As for fall, its always scrapes. They are without a doubt my most favorite thing to put a camera over. I have gotten all my best pics over annual community scrapes. This time of year, i find the most worn out deer trail and put my camera facing directly down it so thati get pictures of anything walking it.

I use a product called Lucky Buck. It comes in a white bucket and the product looks like a fine red sand. It smells like apples. I don't know what is in it but the deer hammer it for months even after you no longer see the product on the ground. Last year I put some out in the first part of June and by Sept. they had a hole as big as a bushel basket and about a foot deep. You can google that name, Lucky Buck, and get their website. I think the cost is about 17.50 a bucket and it is free shipping. I have also bought it at Gander Mtn. for about 24.00 a bucket. Over the years I have used several products in front of my cameras but this is by far the best. The deer just seemed to love it. Hope this helps.

Here in Indiana minerals are not allowed so we avoid creating mineral sites. We like to place ours over travel routes in and out of our food plots. Just for extra assurance that we will get pictures we will put out some horse feed to get them to stop. They absolutely love the molasses, oats and corn. Right now I am trying out some Buckola and Ruttin' Apples. I got them both for really cheap so I thought I would give them a try. I will find out how they work when I go check my camera next.

Well it is an oddly worded regulation. It states that, "An area is considered to be baited for 10 days after the removal of the bait and any affected soil." So technically you can put minerals and bait on your property but I really do not feel like removing the soil to keep myself legal. It is much easier to just put out some corn and oats in front of my cameras every now and then durring the off season. Once you stop putting out food it goes away quite quickly compared to a mineral lick that can take a long time to go away unless you remove the soil. So to make sure I am following the rules I just stick to putting out a little bit of feed every now and then to make sure I get a few pictures.

Oh yeah! I am sure there is someone out there who's job it is to come up with the wording for the regulations. It is probably someone who has terrible communication skills but got the job anyway.

You can put what ever you want to and they'll stop a lot of the time!
If you want it to last a long time though, put minerals out and that'll last for a while!
