i think the 3000 is the older version of the expert. It has the older housing with the batteries right in front and no on/off swith, with the CF card slot on the side. The expert has the new housing.

The older cudde is better though. Just ask anyone who has had both. If I had the choice I would take the older model.

I agree also, the older cudde (3000) is a great trail camera.

Yup, I had a 05 and a 06 last year. Sold the 06 and bought another 05. 05's were HOT on eBay last winter.

I guess I'll throw in my experience here. I have both of the Cuddebacks as well but my experience was just the opposite. The older one is on the floor beside me because it quit working and after a couple of months I gave up on the support over the phone. The new one is still in use. It isn't the best thing since sliced bread but as compared to the older one it's at least still working. I'm also getting a little better battery life with rechargeable batteries in the new one.

Here's my specific experience with the 06 vs. the 05.

Battery life on the 05 is better because the flash isn't so bright.
Flash is brighter (advantage for picture taking most of the time) on the 06
Battery holder SUCKS on the 06.
Weather proofing SUCKS on the 06.
My 06 would not stay on no matter how I put the batteries in. Therefore I had to reset date / time all the time and miss pictures.
05 definitely has shutter speed issues during the day. A fast moving target is blurry on the 05. Not so on the 06.
06 comes with NO accessories. I liked the cable with the 05.
