Default reverse string on unstrung recorves?

I have noticed several recurves offered on ebay pictured unstrung with the string seemingly tight between the tips on the reverse side of the bow. Is this a desirable way to store an unstrung recurve? Also, am I correct that the best way to store a strung recurve or longbow for the short term is to hang it horizontally by the string on two pegs?

Reversing the string on a recurve is not a good idea. The thing is designed and built to flex the other direction. I suspect the folks doing it are not familiar with bows and are trying to present them as strung. The best way to store a recurve is to hang it horizontally, unstrung, resting on two pegs, spaced at about the fade-outs of the limbs, (near the riser). Or, vertically, unstrung, hanging by the string.

There was a pic on ebay a couple years a go showing a guy drawing the recurve he was selling, and the poor bow was strung backwards. So not just everybody selling stuff on ebay is knowledgeable about it. Reversing the string is not a good thing to do and I'd think twice or thrice before bidding on one that was pictured that way.

Thanks for the information, I'm glad I asked. There are a lot of nice old bows on ebay, but I agree that a lot of the people selling them don't know much about them.
